2011.....The Year Of The Mom...I Mean, The Rabbit.

Another year has come and gone. Time is speeding by at an incredible rate. I blinked, it's gone. 2011 will be the year for me. I'm at a point in my life where I feel like I want to do more, more than just being a Mom. I love that part, just being a Mom, because I'm not just a Mom, I'm so much more. But I want to venture out and do new things. I had already made up my mind about wanting to do something new and the very next day I was contacted by a woman I'm friends with on Facebook about a job. She has her own photography business and it's really picking up and she asked me if I'd be interested in being her second shooter. Of course I said yes, we went over a few details about pricing and such, then she asked if I'd give her a bio and a picture for the website. Of course, since I'm always the one taking the pictures, getting a picture of myself is hard. I have to do it myself. So today will be spent working with my tripod and trying to get a decent picture. :) Luckily my husband got me some new camera toys for Christmas. I got the Gary Fong  Lighsphere Universal Starter Kit, the Nikon SSB-600 Speedlight, and a AF-S DX Nikkor 35mm f/1.8G lens.  -insert heavy breathing here- The difference in my pictures is amazing!! He did good, real good!! I had no idea he was getting me any of that stuff either. Total surprise! :D Of course, now I've been practicing. Here are some of the pictures I've taken so far. None of them have been altered in any way.....

These are just basic pictures I've taken in the past 2 weeks. I can't wait to get a new computer with the intel processor so I can download and use Lightroom 3! People think that you just point, shoot and that's how you get great pictures. Not always. Editing is a big part of it and I love to edit! That's my friend in the last picture, Danielle. She has asked me to photograph her dance studio on Friday so she can update her website. I'm nervous. Don't ask me why, I just am. I would love to have been able to edit those pictures, but I can't really do much with what I have here, so they have to come out good! :)

So a new year, a new beginning and it's started off great so far. Once my bio is up on the photography website I'll put a link to it in my sidebar. :) And I'll post pictures of the studio once I'm done. YAY!!!!

You Know You're A Mom When......

You wake up with the worst stomach ache and still manage to cook, clean, take care of little ones, take care of the dogs, do "school time" with the almost 4 year old, go shopping, make a huge dinner cause your teenager asked you to, take care of the hubby, take care of bedtime routine and then clean the kitchen all the while trying not to vomit. That was my day yesterday. I'm completely exhausted and still not feeling well, but I'm the Mom and I have to keep going. And that's why we women are the Moms, because we can do it all, even when we don't want to.

My Wish List...

While I was driving into Boston yesterday with 2 screaming kids in the back, one of which was screaming and kicking my seat, I started daydreaming about all the things I'd love to have for Christmas. First I started thinking how great it'd be to have a new vacuum cleaner. Mine is making choking noises and is just not doing too good. I've always wanted one of these........

It's soooo beautiful!!! It's the Dyson DC25 All Floors. ((sigh)) Just think of all the Cheerios, dog hair, dust and dirt I could pick up with that thing!!!

The nest thing I wish I had was a new camera. I've wanted one for YEARS, but there are way more important things to spend THAT kind of money on. You know, mortgage, bills, kids. HAH! But if I could, I would buy this one......

That's the Nikon D90. -drools- A friend of mine has a Nikon, not the D90 though, and he swears by them. Says he's had all brands of cameras and the Nikon is by far the easiest to use and the best brand out there. Well worth every penny. Just think of all the pictures I could be taking of my little angels!! All the close-ups of snot and tears! It would be great!!

Now, everyone knows that the MAN does the laundry. Why? How did I get so lucky? Because our washer and dryer are in the basement, which just happens to be the "Spider Lair". I refuse to go down there unless I have to. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE doing laundry. It's never ending, but I like making things smell good and I love the way the clothes feel when I fold them. But the spiders scare the shit outta me, so the MAN does the laundry. When we get the basement finished, which will hopefully be soon, I told him that I want these......

Aren't they beautiful?!?! I am seriously sitting here gazing at them with googoo eyes. Those, my dear friends, are the GE Profile Red 4.2 cu. ft. Frontload Washer ENERGY STAR. I can already imagine all the stains I could demolish with that washer!!! YES!!!

That's pretty much it. I don't ask for much. Do I? :D
